The International Institute for Qualitative Methodology (IIQM) is an interdisciplinary institute, under the auspices of the Faculty of Nursing, at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
The institute was founded in 1998, with the primary goal of facilitating the development of qualitative research methods across a wide variety of academic disciplines. Faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and students at the institute conduct research that is directly related to methodological development.
We welcome you to visit the institute – for a day, a month, or even a year – and take advantage of our resources. We have a comprehensive library of books on qualitative methods, stocked by major publishers around the world. We also have the facilities for conducting research using video and audio equipment. Of course the most valuable resource at the institute is the ability to network with the world-class researchers.
On this website, you will find information about our staff, our research, our publications, and our conferences and workshops. You will also find information about visiting the Institute to participate in these workshops and classes, or conduct your own research.
